Trusting God In Confusion
Heartfelt Conversations with Diana
The Night is Normal Study
Life doesn't always make sense.
Sometimes our prayers seem unanswered. Sometimes the path ahead feels uncertain. Sometimes we ask questions without easy answers.
In this episode of Heartfelt Conversations with Diana, we explore one of the most honest questions every believer eventually asks:
Can I trust God when I don't understand Him?
Together, we'll discover that faith isn't built on having every answer—it's built on knowing the character of the One who does. Looking at Scripture, Job's journey, and practical ways to strengthen our trust, we'll learn that God's faithfulness never depends on our understanding.
If you've ever wrestled with confusion, disappointment, or unanswered questions, this conversation is for you.
Because sometimes God's greatest gift isn't an explanation...
It's His presence.
Join me as we learn to trust the heart of God—even when we cannot trace His hand.

Trusting God in Confusion
The Night is Normal Part 10: Choosing Trust When Answers Don’t Come
Hello everybody!!!
Welcome back to Heartfelt Conversations with Diana.
Last week we spent time talking about identity.
Not the identities the world gives us...
Not the titles we earn...
Not even the identities we've created for ourselves... after years of disappointments and failures, maybe.
We talked about coming home to who God says we are.
Because the truth is...
Everything we are not has already been covered by Jesus.
Do you understand what I am saying? Stop trying to be the person you think God expects you to be and just rest in knowing Jesus already took care of all of that. There is no trying; there is only believing in our hearts, confessing with our mouths, and receiving Yeshua, Jesus, as our personal Lord and Savior.
But today I'd like to ask another question.
What happens after we've embraced our identity and life still doesn't make sense?
Because knowing who you are doesn't automatically answer every "why."
Sometimes the questions remain.
Sometimes the prayers seem unanswered.
Sometimes the path God leads us down looks nothing like the one we imagined.
So today we're asking a question every believer eventually has to answer...
Can I trust God when I don't understand Him?
Let’s open with prayer:
Father,
Thank You that Your character never changes, even when our circumstances do.
When life feels confusing, remind us that You are still faithful.
Help us trust Your heart even when we cannot trace Your hand.
Open our ears to hear Your voice today.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
There Is A Difference Between Knowing About God...and Personally Trusting Him
If you've walked with Jesus for any length of time, you've probably discovered something.
Faith isn't really tested during the easy seasons.
It's tested during the confusing ones.
When everything makes sense, trust comes naturally.
But when the diagnosis comes, when someone leaves, when the prayer isn't answered, when the finances don't work, when the future feels uncertain. That's when trust becomes a choice.
I've discovered something over the years. God has rarely explained everything He was doing while He was doing it.
Instead, He invited me to keep trusting Him AS I was walking with Him.
One of the most quoted verses in Scripture is Proverbs 3.
But sometimes we quote it so often that we miss what it's actually asking of us.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT): Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.
Notice what Solomon doesn't say. He doesn't promise understanding.
He promises guidance. Sometimes we're waiting for explanations while God is simply asking for trust.
When we think about trusting God without understanding, it's impossible not to think about Job. Job lost nearly everything. His children. His wealth. His health. His friends accused him. His wife questioned him. His world collapsed. For chapter after chapter...
Job asked questions. Questions many of us have asked.
"Why?" "God, where are You?" "What are You doing?"
And when God finally spoke, He didn't give Job a detailed explanation.
Instead, He reminded Job who He was. The Creator. The Sustainer.
The One who sees what we cannot. Sometimes God's greatest answer isn't information. Sometimes it's His presence.
We Often Want Explanations More Than Relationship
Can I confess something? I like answers. I like plans. I like knowing what's next. Maybe you're like me. If I understand something… I feel like I can control it. But faith isn't built on control. It's built on surrender.
Sometimes God allows mystery because mystery requires dependence.
If I understood everything… I wouldn't need to trust Him.
God lovingly reminds us...
Isaiah 55:8-9 (NLT): My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts... And My ways are far beyond anything you could imagine."
That isn't meant to discourage us. It's meant to comfort us.
Because if God only knew what I know, then He wouldn't be much help! right?! LOL
I need a God who sees beyond my perspective. I need a God who is a whole lot wiser than me!
Have you ever noticed that sometimes we only recognize God's faithfulness after we've come through something?
We look back and suddenly see… "Oh… That's why."
But not always. Sometimes we still don't know.
But we discover something even greater.
God was faithful whether we understood Him or not.
Which brings us to today’s…
Building Blocks
Building Block #1
Trust God's Character More Than Your Circumstances
Circumstances change.
God doesn't.
When life becomes uncertain...
Anchor yourself in who He has already proven Himself to be.
Scripture
"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever."Hebrews 13:8 (NLT)
Ask yourself:
"What do I already know about God's character?"
Hold on to that.
Building Block #2
Let Obedience Be Bigger Than Understanding
Sometimes the next step is clear...
Even when the whole journey isn't.
Faith doesn't require all the answers.
It simply takes the next faithful step.
Scripture
"Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path."— Psalm 119:105 (NLT)
Notice...
A lamp usually lights only a few steps ahead.
Not the whole road.
Building Block #3
Remember What God Has Already Done
One of the quickest ways to strengthen our faith...
is to remember yesterday's faithfulness.
The same God who carried you then...
will carry you now.
Scripture
"I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord."— Psalm 27:13-14 (NLT)
Remembering is an act of worship.
Maybe today you have more questions than answers.
That's okay.
God has never been intimidated by honest questions.
But don't let unanswered questions convince you that God has become untrustworthy.
The cross already settled that question.
If God was willing to give His own Son for us, He has already demonstrated His love beyond measure.
One day we'll understand far more than we do today.
But until then - we walk by faith.
Not because we understand everything, but because we know the One who does.
Everything we are not has been covered by Jesus.
And because of that, we can trust Him—even when we don't understand Him.
Father,
Thank You that Your faithfulness is not dependent upon my understanding.
Forgive me for the times I've believed that I needed every answer before I could trust You.
Teach me to rest in Your character.
Help me remember Your goodness when life feels uncertain.
Strengthen my faith to keep taking the next step You place before me.
Thank You for being the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Even when I cannot see the whole picture, I choose to trust the One who holds it.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
Next week (6), we're going to begin another powerful conversation as we explore Disillusionment with Self.
Have you ever looked in the mirror and felt disappointed with who you are... or discouraged by how far you still have to go?
We'll discover that God is never surprised by our weaknesses—and His grace has always been greater than our shortcomings.
I hope you'll join me next week.
Until then...
Keep your eyes on Jesus. And never forget...
Everything we are not...has been covered by Jesus.
God's invitation has never been, "Try harder." His invitation has always been, "Come closer."
May Grace and peace follow you all week. Keep building your life on the firm foundation of God's Word. ❤️ Remember this:
Faithfulness isn't measured by how fast you run.
It's measured by the direction you're headed.
So keep moving toward Jesus.
One ordinary step… One ordinary day… At a time.

Prayer of Salvation
Jesus has given salvation, healing, and countless benefits to all who call upon His name. These benefits can be yours if you receive Him into your heart by saying this prayer:
Heavenly Father, I come to You admitting that I am a sinner. Right now, I choose to turn away from sin, and I ask You to cleanse me of all unrighteousness. I believe that Jesus rose again from the dead so that I may be justified and made righteous through faith in Him. I call upon the name of Jesus Christ to be the Savior and Lord of my life. Jesus, I choose to follow You, and I ask that You fill me with the power of the Holy Spirit. I declare right now that I am a born-again child of God. I am free from sin and full of the righteousness of God. I am saved in Jesus’ name. Amen.
